Summary:This image was published in the Birmingham News on April 12, 1939, with the following caption: "Wreckage Left by Storm - Even though they were termed "mild" by weather authorities, tornadoes yesterday took the lives of two persons in Alabama and brought injuries to several more, while the total property damage in the state has not yet been computed. Above are pictures made at Montevallo, Ala., where the worst storm struck, although there were no fatalities. More than a core of houses suffered damage which ranged from buildings destroyed to slightly damaged roofs and porches." (The image is damaged due to deterioration of the original negative.)
