Description
Summary:A photograph taken at the same time was published on page 22 of the Birmingham News on October 1, 1957, with the following caption: "Perfect score in United Appeal - Alabama Broadcasting System set a proud mark today when all employes [sic] of WABT-TV and WAPI radio participated in the United Appeal to give the concern a 100 per cent record, one of the first two with a perfect score. At a check presentation, left to right, were Henry P. Johnston, president of Alabama Broadcasting System, Chesty, and Appeal General Chairman H. Neely Henry." The check itself, however, appears to be from the Hayes Aircraft Corporation, which had also donated to the campaign (representatives from Hayes are pictured separately on the same newspaper page).
