Lowe's twin sister, Betty Wilson, had been convicted of hiring a hit man to kill her husband, Jack, who was beaten to death at his home in Huntsville on May 22, 1992. Lowe had also been charged with conspiring to kill Wilson, but she was eventually acquitted.
