James B. Allen.

Allen was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1938 to 1942; the Alabama Senate from 1946 to 1950; and the U.S. Senate from 1969 to 1978 (his death). He also served as the lieutenant governor of Alabama from 1951 to 1955 and from 1963 to 1967.
