Photographs at the law office of Julius L. Chambers and James E. Ferguson, cooperating attorneys for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) in Charlotte, North Carolina.

With Adam Stein, Chambers and Ferguson formed the first interracial law firm in the state. Chambers later became the director-counsel of LDF in 1984. These photographs were taken by Jim Peppler, who worked as a photographer for the LDF from about 1966 to 1985.
